Frequently Asked Questions
You can reserve a Nook online by clicking here or by searching the catalog for the title Homewood Nook. Click on the “Request It” button and follow the instructions for placing a hold. You will have to visit the Homewood Public Library’s Adult Services desk to sign a Nook Lending Agreement and check out the Nook.
Come in to the Homewood Public Library’s Adult Services desk. To check out a Nook you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license or state issued non-driver’s identification card and a Jefferson County Library Card in good standing – both of which we’ll need to see. We’ll verify your contact information, have you sign a Nook Lending Agreement, and check out a Nook to you (if one is available). If all of our Nooks are checked out we’ll put you on the holds list.
You will be able to borrow the Nook for 3 weeks and to renew it once, as long as there are no holds on the device.
Overdue charges are $1.00 per day if the Nook is returned past its due date.
You will be unable to purchase and/or download additional titles to the Nook.
Yes. To see which titles are on the Nook before reserving a device, look at the record in the online catalog. All titles and authors are in the description. If you have the device in hand, the titles will be displayed in the Nook library.
At this time 16 titles are loaded on the Nook – 11 Fiction and 5 Non-Fiction. More will be added in the future.
You must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license or state issued non-driver’s identification card and a Jefferson County Public Library card in good standing. You must also sign a Nook Lending Agreement and confirm your contact information at the time of checkout.
No deposit will be required, but you will have to sign a Nook Lending Agreement that indicates your agreement to the terms contained therein, including the agreement to pay for the full replacement costs of the device, and its accessories, if they are not returned or are returned in damaged condition.
The Nook must be returned directly to a staff member at the Homewood Public Library Adult Services desk during business hours (see hours of operation below). The device may not be returned in the outdoor or indoor drop boxes or to another library. If it is returned to another library or via a drop box, the borrower will be charged a minimum fee of $25.00.
