In anticipation of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week November 4 - 10, the Homewood Public Library has partnered with The Greater Birmingham Humane Society. We are having a Pet Reading Photo Contest during October and pet related events the entire month of November!

Simply take a photo of your pet reading a book, a magazine, an eReader or any other text and enter the contest to win one of three prizes for best photo! The photos will be displayed in the Pet Reading Photo Contest album on our Facebook page and in our Flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/homewoodpix/.

HOW TO SUBMIT PHOTOS:
Please "like" our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/HomewoodPublicLibrary then join the Event http://www.facebook.com/events/501830796495153/. Upload your photo to the Event - OR - email your photo to cburnette@bham.lib.al.us.

Submission dates are September 22 - October 30, 2012.

Please include your pet's name and the title and author of the book they are reading. One photo per pet, please.

HOW TO VOTE FOR A PHOTO:
Please "like" our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/HomewoodPublicLibrary then vote for your favorite photo by COMMENTING on the Event page http://www.facebook.com/events/501830796495153/. The top three photos to receive the most comments (likes do not count) will be the winners. A person can only vote (comment) once per photo. So tell your friends to vote (comment) for you! The staff entries will be judged separately so they will not compete with the non-staff entries.

PRIZES:
1st Place - $50 VISA gift card
2nd Place - $25 VISA gift card
3rd Place - Treats for your pet

Winners will be announced November 1 at 6:30pm at our kick-off event for National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week featuring nationally known Animal Communicator Debbie McGillivray. She will speak about the art of animal communication followed by a book signing of her new book “Untamed Voices”.
