Hope you had a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Did you watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? All the big balloons made me think of one of my favorite picture books: Balloons over Broadway, written and illustrated by Melissa Sweet  (E SWE).  It tells the true story of Tony Sarg, who first created the huge, tethered helium puppets for the parade.

I also remembered a classic Christmas movie we have, called Miracle on 34th Street (DVD M), which begins on Thanksgiving Day and tells a story of a Macy’s employee who hires Santa Claus for the parade, and her little girl who doesn’t believe in Santa.

Did you see Toothless in the parade?  What a big black dragon, floating just above the crowds!  Did you know that How to Train Your Dragon (J COW) is a popular book series by Cressida Cowell?

Finally, did you catch The Elf flying overhead in the parade?  It reminded me that the Children’s Library is expecting a long visit in December from OLAF, our library elf friend.  Come see us during the 12 Days of Elf on the Shelf, which begins on Thursday!
