Please join us for this very special event in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Please join the Homewood Public Library and our partner The Birmingham Holocaust Educational Center for this very special event in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Our panel will be answering the question raised in Simon Wiesenthal’s book The Sunflower: You are a prisoner in a concentration camp. A dying Nazi soldier asks for your forgiveness. What would you do?
Our Panel consists of Ann Mollengarden, a survivor’s daughter and researcher for the Alabama Holocaust Education Center; Chris Berdy, a second generation survivor whose father’s family experienced the Holocaust across three generations; Rabbi Weinbaum of Chabad, Rabbi Friedman and Rabbi Henkin; and The Rev. Katherine Harper, Associate Rector for Pastoral Care & Liturgy, who was on duty when the shooting of parishioners happened at St.Stephen’s Episcopal Church last year. Each participant will answer the question about the possibilities and limits of forgiveness in light of their own life experiences. The program is free but the seating is limited. Register online at www.homewoodpubliclibrary.org for a headcount.
