The library offers FREE notary services with the following restrictions:
Call the library in advance to see if a notary is available.
Walk-in service is possible, but notary staff availability is not guaranteed.
Patrons must provide valid, government-issued photo ID.
Patrons must provide their own witnesses if needed to notarize a document (library staff cannot act as witnesses).
The documents must be complete and ready for signature. If legal advice is needed, please consult an attorney. The notary public is prohibited from helping to prepare, complete, or understand legal documents.
The library does not notarize I-9 forms, home closing / real estate transactions, power of attorney, immigration documentation, health directives, nor documents about adoptions, custody, or family law.
Notaries reserve the right to refuse notarizing documents if there is a legitimate reason (examples include signer(s) not present, incomplete document, signer mentally incapacitated, invalid ID, etc.)

Proctoring Guidelines and Basic Information:
Homewood Public Library offers free test proctoring through the Adult Services Department.

Please read this guideline first:
You must know the amount of time allowed for your test
Verify with both the school and library that all testing materials have been received by the library at lease 48 hours prior to your test.
Bring a picture ID, student ID, pens/pencils and a basic calculator if required.
Provide addressed envelopes and money for postage and printing if required for returning completed test results to school.
Pay a (.25¢ color - .10¢ B/W) per page charge for printing, in cash, for print jobs.
Verify with both the school and library that all testing materials have been received by the library at least 48 hours prior to your test.
Homewood Public Library (HPL) will not accommodate requests for unscheduled proctoring.
The library will:
Provide a laptop, if needed, for the student to use for online testing. However, we will not download testing software that is not compatible with our network. However, we will not download testing software that is not compatible with our network.
Check the student’s photo ID.
Maintain a file for the student that will contain all the proctoring request and a copy of student's photo ID for 2 months after the designated testing time.
Forward tests via e-mail or mail at the student’s expense.
Limits to Proctoring Service:
HPL will not proctor an exam brought in by the student.
Testing only occurs during the weekdays Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 10:00am- 2:00pm. Tuesday 4pm-6pm.
The library does not provide fax services.
HPL cannot guarantee that technical problems will not occur when using the library laptops.
HPL will not be responsible for tests that are interrupted by library emergencies, power failures, or computer issues.
HPL will not be responsible for any delayed tests, or for completed tests once they leave the library’s possession and have been sent to the school.
If test results/materials are to be returned to the school by mail, HPL will send them promptly but cannot make a guarantee that the testing institution will receive them by a specific date.
